1. Problem

The app only works as an hotel directory.

When the hotel booking was incorporated, the application changed completely. It must stop being just a directory to start being more like Booking, Atrapalo and other similar products. It was not an easy task, it was necessary to create a new navigation and new sections with a single objective, that users can book one or more rooms and made the payment in a few steps.

2. Approach

What users needs.

Having little time for the realization of the product I decided that the best way was to implement a fast UX process and getting the most information with everything I had within reach. The comments from the users with the current application were not good and was reflected in the score of Google Play and iTunes, with the comments as user references I could have a clear idea of the users needs. Creating a scenario with Persona was a starting point to begin to think in the new app.
The second step was to investigate the competition in a little benchmark to get the best practices from others apps.

3. Objetives

What need to be improved.

  • Incorporate a payment gateway.
  • Increase the KPI.
  • Get a better feedback from the users of the app.

4. Deffinition

Lets do a booking app.

I created an user flow and defined the architecture of the information to have an estimated time of production . With the participation of the developer team for the back-end of the app I could approach to a better result without losing any extra time, they could give me their opinion about the app so I could apply the changes fast before I pass the project to the UI designer. My principal idea was that all the teams should work together and, at the same time, keeping the updates online so everyone could have an idea of the project process. Optimize the time by an agile method like scrum was crucial at these part of the project.

5. Wireframes and Prototypes

Bringing life to the app.

With the user flow approved from the stakeholders I did all the wireframes and the online prototype in Marvelapp so the whole team has access to it at anytime, also I printed the wireframes for a fast feedback from the rest of the team. At this part it was super important to keep the communication with the UI designer and the developers for the improvement of the team work. The result of this work methodology was impressive for the stakeholders of the company, they could see all the process of the app and give their opinions without losing any extra time.
